The Casselman council rejected the expansion of the systematic translation of municipal reports, despite the support of Mayor Geneviève Lajoie. French-speaking councillors consider the measure too costly and premature without a budget analysis. An internal report indicates that bilingual production would cause delays and increase the workload. Lajoie says that Anglophones feel excluded. More than 75% of Casselman’s residents are Francophone.
