A financial study recommends that South Glengarry increase water rates by 7 per cent and wastewater rates by 8 per cent per year to ensure the sustainability of the systems between 2025 and 2034. The current 3% increases are no longer sufficient, and the administration cannot exceed 5% without the approval of the board. Operating costs are expected to increase by 9.4% per year and wastewater capital expenditures will total $3.5 million over 10 years. The municipality will have to adjust its tariffs to maintain its water and sanitation infrastructure.
