It’s judgement day for Clarence-Rockland couple Stacey Laviolette, and Keith Lanctot the co-inventors of the innovative product, My Friend Toothy, which encourages kids to brush their teeth and help ease fear of going to the dentist.
They pitch their product for a hopeful cash deal in front of the Dragons on the CBC series “Dragons’ Den.”
Laviolette told her husband when she came up with the idea that one day they would present Toothy before the dragons. The couple is seeking a $60,000 deal for 20% of their business.
Regardless of the decision (the couple already know as their episode was taped months ago but because of a non disclosure, they cannot share the results of their pitch) the couple feel that they are already winners, as this exposure on National TV will bring attention to their product. Many businesses who have presented their inventions/products on the show, even if they did not get a deal, saw a rise is sales of their product when the episode aired.
The couple will be hosting a sold out viewing party at Broadway Bar & Grill Rockland sponsored by GO-FM, BIG-FM and Rockland Family Dentistry. Broadway owner Mike Cooke agree to use all ticket sales, and a portion of food sold during the event to purchase My Friend Toothy kits and donate them to Valoris.
Catch their episode on CBC and CBC Gem tonight at 8pm. Stacey and Keith were on the BIG Breakfast this morning with Derrick Scott, if you missed the chat, listen back below:
