Elected Officials In Alfred Plantagenet Get Big Pay Increase

By Derrick Scott Dec 3, 2025 | 5:40 AM

Alfred and Plantagenet will significantly increase the remuneration of its elected officials in 2026 to bring it closer to the regional average. The mayor’s salary will increase to $55,000 while that of councillors will rise by 10.5% to $25,000. The allowance per meeting will increase to $170. The municipality believes these increases are necessary to remain competitive and says that the costs are already planned for in the 2026 budget. With these adjustments, local remuneration is now in line with the regional average.
