The Township of Alfred and Plantagenet is calling on the federal government to rebuild the Wendover Marina, following the demolition of the docks and boat launch last week. Closed since 2023, the infrastructure had existed since the 1970s. Mayor Yves Laviolette maintains that the municipality wanted to take over the management of the city through a federal program, after three years of discussions. He deplores a change in Ottawa’s position and says the marina was essential to local community life.
