A public consultation by the Crown corporation Alto was held yesterday at the Vankleek Hill Community Centre on the high-speed rail project linking Quebec City to Toronto. Residents of Eastern Ontario were given the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback. Although no official route has yet been confirmed, the proposed corridor would cross the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. Citizens are concerned about the possible impacts on their land, while several elected officials, including the mayor of the Township of Champlain, Norman Riopel, are calling for more information to better evaluate the project
