Nancy Arnot, a local vendor and owner of Fresh Friends, providing all natural products for animal lovers, from lip balms, bug bite balm, whipped beard oil, matcha clay face masks, has been a part of several markets over the years across the region. Noting there was not much going on in February she and Barb Lorrain from St. Andrew’s United Church decide the idea of doing a “winter market” benefiting not only the church but local rescue, and Sweet Livia, a young girl in the area battling cancer.
The ideas started flowing in January, and in no time, vendors came forward, Arnot noted that things came together very quickly.
Nancy, along with her 93 years old Moira, and Barb joined Derrick Scott on the BIG Breakfast this morning to talk about the market. Arnot shared a touching moment on how her Mom has inspired her to push forward in her business, all the organizing and planning that goes into a market, and to embrace life.

BIG-FM has been committed to local events, and charities, since the radio station, and sister station became a part of 92.1 GO-FM, and the birth of WHATEVER RADIO last May. The stations provides thousands of dollars of in kind advertising to non profit organizations every month, and not only on the air, but also on their websites, and social media.
“We promote that we are 100% Locally Owned & Operated,” said Operations Manager Derrick Scott. “And we back it up with all of the promotion we do for local events, and causes, more so than any other media from Ottawa, throughout Prescott-Russell and SD&G. For those service clubs, event planners (charity driven) even local businesses looking for true locally focused exposure, it’s a matter of reaching out to us.”
