South Glengarry City Council has received a report on the condition of the township’s bridges and culverts and the projected costs for the next 10 years. Of the 68 structures inspected, 14 require replacement, i.e. $10 million, 8 require major rehabilitation requires $7 million and 21 requires minor rehabilitation of $6 million, for a total of more than $24 million required.

No bridges need immediate repairs, but 23 will need to be maintained in the next five years.

The council plans to allocate additional resources for proactive maintenance to extend the life of the structures, including crack sealing, embankment management and deck washing.
