The Russell Teen Advisory Committee is launching the Voter Engagement Project to encourage youth to learn about municipal democracy and vote in the 2026 election. The initiative responds to the drop in voter turnout, with only 31% of voters voting in 2022 and about one in five 18-19 year olds. Educational activities, voting simulations and meetings with elected officials are planned to raise awareness among young people and strengthen their civic participation.
