SDG’s United Counties Council will hold another meeting on April 7 to discuss the roadside tree planting program. The project received support, including from some farmers, and a petition with more than 700 signatures. Supporters point to the benefits for road safety, by reducing snow accumulations, as well as for the environment. However, several farmers have criticized the program, particularly because of the problems that trees can create on their infrastructure. The council wants to hold another meeting and ensure a balance of views before making a decision.
