Fire Alarm Issues At Prescott And Russell Residence Causes More Delays

By Derrick Scott Mar 31, 2026 | 5:47 AM

The fire alarm system at the new Prescott and Russell Residence has been found to be non-compliant with the Building Code by the Ontario Building Code Commission. The sound does not reach the 65 decibels required in the rooms when the doors are closed. Major work will be required for the wiring and loudspeakers, resulting in costs and further delays. The opening, already postponed since 2022, could take place in the autumn. The UCPR specifies that the fire alarm system was installed in accordance with the architectural plans planned for the new Prescott and Russell Residence.
