The St‑Hubert rotisserie restaurants in Hawkesbury and Rockland will be joining, this Sunday, April 12, a project aimed at making dining rooms more inclusive for people on the autism spectrum.
Starting this Sunday, and every Sunday at lunchtime, these rotisserie restaurants will offer an adapted environment to help create a pleasant dining experience for these families.
In March 2025, St-Hubert Group launched a pilot initiative in two Express restaurants, with an ordering counter and self-serve sauce and beverage station. These features reduce waiting times, which is conducive to an inclusive experience. More Express rotisseries joined the initiative following its initial success.
Employees at inclusive St-Hubert restaurants are trained to understand the realities of autistic individuals and to respond to their diverse sensory needs through a range of measures, including reduced background music and lower equipment noise, as well as available sensory kits.
This project is designed to enhance the customer experience for all and was initiated by the St-Hubert Foundation and Fondation Autiste et majeur, with the support and expertise of the Giant Steps autism centre, a recognized leader with over 40 years of expertise in education, training and promoting the inclusion of autistic individuals across all sectors of society.
As of April 12, a total of 79 St-Hubert restaurants in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick will welcome families wishing to take part in this inclusive initiative on Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. While autistic individuals and their families are always welcome at any St-Hubert location, sensory adjustments will be offered exclusively on Sundays at lunchtime.
