The Township of Alfred-Plantagenet opposes the Toronto-Quebec City high-speed rail project in its current form. Council unanimously adopted a resolution to this effect after hearing citizens’ concerns about the fragmentation of farmland, the impacts on family farms, rural travel and emergency service delays. Elected officials believe that the project does not bring any local advantage, since no shutdown is planned in the region.
