Boisés Est, which represents more than 200 French-speaking forest owners in Eastern Ontario, has expressed its concerns to the Council of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell about the Alto high-speed rail project. The organization is concerned about possible expropriations, impacts on forests, wildlife, municipal services and rural communities. Boisés Est is calling for a complete review of the Ottawa-Montreal route, including independent analyses and the study of alternative routes, such as a route parallel to Highway 417.
