The race for mayor of Hawkesbury is officially underway for the October 26 municipal election. Two candidates have already submitted their candidacies: former councillor Gilles Greffe and outgoing councillor Julie Séguin. Séguin is focusing on transparency, better communication with citizens and rebuilding trust in City Hall. Greffe says it wants to promote the sustainable growth of Hawkesbury through its municipal experience and leadership.
Hawkesbury municipal councilor André Chamaillard has been placed on official leave. Council passed a resolution to this effect on Monday, May 11, after the councilor’s two-month absence from meetings. No reason was given for his absence or the request for leave. Mayor Robert Lefebvre thanked Mr. Chamaillard for his years of service and said he speaks to him on occasion, adding that he is doing well.
