Community advocate, entrepreneur, and longtime local volunteer Chantal Sarkisian has officially submitted her candidacy for Municipal Councilor in Ward 5 for the City of Clarence-Rockland.
Sarkisian filed her nomination on May 1, marking what she describes as a natural next step after more than a decade of building and supporting communities both online and locally.
“For the past 12 years, I’ve focused on bringing people together, sharing local stories, and promoting the incredible people, businesses, and organizations that make our region special,” said Sarkisian. “Now, I want to continue serving my community in a more formal capacity and help ensure residents have a strong voice at City Hall.”
Over the past four years, Sarkisian has been actively involved in local initiatives, including serving as Chair of the City’s Economic Development Advisory Committee, engaging with residents and business owners throughout the community, participating in the Clarence-Rockland Chamber of Commerce, and supporting numerous local charities through volunteer work and fundraising efforts.
She is also the founder of 1868 Collective, a platform dedicated to highlighting local businesses, organizations, and community members across the region.
Sarkisian says her campaign will focus on strengthening communication between residents and municipal government, increasing public awareness of local issues, and ensuring citizens have better access to information about decisions being made at City Hall.
“I’ve attended consultations, listened to residents, and learned about the priorities facing our community,” she said. “My goal is to improve communication, increase transparency, and serve as a direct connection between residents and their local government.”
Municipal elections across Ontario are scheduled for October 26, 2026.
