The unemployment rate in Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry counties rose from 4.3 per cent to 4.7 per cent at the beginning of June, but remains lower than last year. Job openings edged down in the spring and the number of EI beneficiaries rose 7% year-over-year. The median hourly wage offered is around $24. Despite these challenges, the economic outlook remains favorable, supported mainly by the healthcare, manufacturing, and tourism sectors.
