The Township of North Glengarry supports a resolution from the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus calling on Ontario to restart the property assessment cycle. The assessments, normally updated every four years, have been frozen since 2016. Municipalities argue that this situation is detrimental to planning, investment and tax fairness, while infrastructure costs are rising. Mayor Jamie MacDonald says that after 10 years, action is needed. MPAC cannot, however, proceed without provincial direction.
