Lactalis Canada is seeking provincial approval to increase the wastewater discharge capacity at its Winchester facility, the largest dairy processing plant in Canada. The request is part of a $42 million investment to modernize the plant.
If approved, the facility would be permitted to discharge up to 2,400 cubic metres of treated wastewater, subject to treatment requirements and monitoring by the provincial Ministry of the Environment. Members of the public can submit comments on the proposal until July 27.
