The Fishing for Autism event drew a record crowd to Island Park in Alexandria, with more than 1,000 people in attendance. The event was founded by Katy O’Connor after her son Chase was diagnosed with autism and she saw firsthand how fishing helped ease his anxiety.
Thanks to community donations, fishing equipment was provided to 200 children. Funds raised from the event will also help create a sensory room for a child.
