Long-time Clarence-Rockland resident and current Ward 3 Councillor Carl Grimard is once again asking voters for their support in this fall’s municipal election.
He’s called Clarence-Rockland home for the past 26 years, where he and his wife raised their family. He has spent more than 40 years in public service and has represented his ward for the past 12 years.
Before entering municipal politics, Grimard served as a combat arms officer in the Canadian Armed Forces and spent more than three decades working in law enforcement. During his time on Council, he has also served six years as Chair of the Planning Committee. He says community service has always been important to him, supporting organizations including the Rockland Help Centre and the Rockland Soup Kitchen.
Grimard says he is seeking another term because he believes experience, integrity and listening to residents are key to effective leadership. While he points to progress made over the past 12 years, he says there is still important work to be done to improve the quality of life for residents and support responsible growth throughout the community.
Among his priorities if re-elected are the redesign of Simon Park into a more accessible and welcoming space for families, community events and cultural celebrations, improving sustainable public transit connections between Clarence-Rockland and Ottawa, and encouraging responsible industrial and commercial development to attract new businesses, create local jobs and strengthen the local economy.
Grimard says his record of public service, combined with a commitment to transparency, common sense and putting residents first, is why he hopes to earn another term representing Ward 3.
