Glengarry Memorial Hospital is being recognized by Ontario Health for exceeding the provincial target for reducing wait times for colonoscopies following an abnormal colon cancer screening result. The hospital says patients are receiving important follow-up care sooner, helping provide answers and, when needed, allowing treatment to begin earlier. The achievement involved teams across the hospital, including physicians, nurses, endoscopy, booking and registration staff. Ontario expanded eligibility for publicly funded colon cancer screening on July 1st, allowing average-risk adults to begin screening at age 45.
