The Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail Challenge returns Saturday, September 26, bringing
runners from across Eastern Ontario, Ottawa, Western Quebec and beyond to the
Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail.
More than 100 runners have already registered for this year’s event, with distances ranging from
12 km to 100 km, along with a team relay. Starting in Hammond, the 2026 routes extend as far
as Vankleek Hill, taking runners along the mostly flat, crushed-stone rail trail through farmland,
wooded sections and communities across Prescott-Russell.
The event began in 2024 as a fun Russell Run Club relay from St. Eugene to Hammond. What
started as a club adventure has grown into a regional endurance event, welcoming runners
taking on everything from their first trail race to a 100 km ultramarathon.
The Trail Challenge is supported by Russell Run Club, a volunteer-led, not-for-profit
organization that promotes healthy, active lifestyles through year-round running programs, races and community events.
Volunteers are a big part of making the Trail Challenge possible. With runners travelling long
distances throughout the day, volunteers are needed at aid stations, start and finish areas, and
for other course and race-day support. Individuals, families, community groups and local
organizations are encouraged to get involved.
Beyond the race itself, the event is an opportunity to showcase the Prescott-Russell
Recreational Trail and the communities along it, while welcoming runners, volunteers, families
and supporters to the region.
The Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail Challenge takes place Saturday, September 26,
2026. Race distances include 12 km, 25 km, 50 km, 50 mile, 100 km and relay.
