The Township of North Glengarry is exploring the possibility of a public-private partnership to maintain long-term care beds in Alexandria. Mayor Jamie MacDonald says The Palace is too old to simply renovate and a new facility will need to be built. He is scheduled to meet with local investors this week, while MLA Stéphane Sarrazin is calling for an extension of the public consultation. Southbridge currently wants to transfer The Palace’s 70 beds and Pinecrest beds from Plantagenet to a new 320-bed complex in Cornwall.
